I have heard this question over and over again. People want to know which Internet Service Provider (ISP) is right for them. Well the answer is simple. Which companies offer service in your area, and which company will give you the best deal.
If you live in a smaller area your ISP choices are going to be limited. You may only have one or two choices available to you. Most likely this will be your phone company and your cable company. You will have to compare the plans both companies offer and see which one better fits your needs.
If you live in a bigger area you will have more choices of ISPs. It will come down to which provider has the best package to fit your needs, and which will give you the best deal.
Some things to consider when choosing which company to go with are price, equipment, speeds, and commitment requirements. You want to choose the ISP that will give you the fastest speed for the least cost. If you don’t have your own equipment you will have to rent it from the ISP company. These fees can vary from $5.00 and up per month.
Commitment requirements are important to check. If a company requires you to remain a customer for 24 months what happens if you are not happy and want to cancel? Will they charge you an early termination fee? Some of these fees can be hundreds of dollars. What if another company has a better offer and you are locked into along term contract.
These are all things to consider before choosing an internet service provider.
