Qwest Communications has just added a special bonus for their loyal customers. Customers of Qwest High Speed Internet will receive free Wi-Fi which can be accessed at over 17,000 hotspots nationwide. Qwest Communications says the free Wi-Fi is extended to all small business customers as well.

Qwest Communications Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) services connects a laptop to a Qwest Communications Wi-Fi Hot Spot. The Wi-Fi internet speeds are extremely higher than dial-up connections when the user is within the 150-foot range of the public hotspot.

The free Wi-Fi networks are powered by AT&T. Expanding the benefits of the existing Qwest Communications broadband internet service. Qwest Communications customers get to have free access to a larger Wi-Fi network by being connected to AT&T.

Impulse Research, A market research firm that conducted an online survey for Qwest in April 2009. The study’s results concluded that half of the participants preferred Wi-Fi to anyone internet connection. Wi-Fi has many benefits and the main benefits found in the study was the ability to use hotspots while traveling.

The online survey was nationwide and the demographics were in the 18 and above age group. Men and women were picked randomly. 1,000 people participated in the online survey were from across the country. Participants were already members of a panel called CyberPulse Advisory.

Qwest Communications are proud of their decision to offer free Wi-Fi access. The online survey showed that customers would get anxiety if they couldn’t access their email accounts, instant messengers or check their MySpace pages. The solution to offer free Wi-Fi was a great idea and it keeps everyone connected.

First quarter of 2008 results were beaten by 2009’s first quarter numbers. The two main factors that contributed to the increase: Wi-Fi capability devices on laptops, and expanding their Wi-Fi footprint between 17,000 to 20,000 locations.

Qwest Communications is the latest in broadband internet services to jump on the bandwagon to offer free Wi-Fi services. Qwest Communications executed this deal perfectly and working with AT&T was just another bonus.
