Everyone who has been part of the internet technology knows what an RFID chip is and probably what it’s used for, or perhaps we should say, what it will be used for. The tiny chips that are called RFID are actually becoming a rapid part of the offline and online world.

Even if you have no idea what Radio Frequency Identification Devices are, chances are that you have one in your pocket right now, or at the very least in your wallet or purse. They are small radio frequency chips. That is to say, they transmit waves on a radio frequency.

A vast array of the credit cards that you are carrying will be touched up with RFID chips. It takes a lot less time to complete your credit card transaction when they are. Now honestly, they are fairly harmless all on their own. They don’t make a move without your approval.. well, sort of. They don’t do a single thing unless someone around you is in possession of a credit card, or an RFID reader.

Now unknown to most of us, when you step inside your local Walmart you’re walking through an RFID reader. Those two big bars that you walk though are RFID readers that send out signals to your credit card. Who knows, maybe they are what gets you to spend more than you meant to. We’re kidding, but the reality is that RFID technology isn’t that secure. In fact, its frighteningly insecure considering what they are being proposed for.

Today’s gasoline pumps give you an RFID reader. It lets you go out to the pump and pay your bill rather than paying it inside the store. For those of you who are not aware of this some of those RFID chips charge you a holding fee after hours. They may bill you as much as 100 dollars extra on the pump after closing hours, so take care when you use the RFID pump payment method. We digress however, the point of this was to tell you more about the RFID technology.

We’ve all seen the new RFID readers that let you just hold up your card and swipe it randomly across the window to get what you want. Nice touch isn’t it, and so handy. Did you know that the RFID readers that you’re seeing in that store can be built for your own use, or that of an identity thief for as little as 250 dollars using equipment that is easy as pie to get . The directions are available to you online on multiple websites. Here’s one now as a matter of fact. http://wearables.cc.gatech.edu/resources/wearableRFID.html

And another. . .http://www.eng.tau.ac.il/~yash/kw-usenix06/index.html

And another. . http://www.rfidtoys.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=210&PID=970&title=how-to-build-a-handheld-rfid-reader

Well you get our drift. They aren’t the least difficult to make, none of these parts are even remotely restricted, and anyone can use your RFID chip against you. The most interesting RFID reader that we saw built online was one sewn into a glove. With a bit of range extension, you could actually get your card read simply by someone walking past you or shaking hands with you.

The positive side of the RFID is that is can save you valuable time. The truly down side is that you can lose your identity and your money. There have already been cases of RFID impelled identity theft. The technology isn’t very old to be this well used and the subject of theft.

New passports contain the same RFID chips now. The government tells us that’s so we’re more secure and we’d just love to buy into that theory… except for that pesky thing called reality. Since RFID is proven to be insecure, and those who use it and study it know it to be an insecure technology why on earth would someone add it to your passport and tell you it’s to keep you safer.

Does the whole thing sound a bit on the dodgy side? Defcon 2009, which I was proud to be a part of, showed the government and the world how on what shaky ground they were basing their claims of improved security. DEFCON, for those of you who don’t know, is a hacker convention but the goal isn’t to commit a crime, it’s to show you, and the world what can happen using the technology that is touted as secure.

If you’re interested in how it all turned out, check out the ZDNET blogs from last year’s DEFCON and find out what could have happened and realize that it could have happened as easily on the street as it did in the hotel. Federal agents carrying RFID cards found out how easily they could be and in fact were owned by the well meaning hackers of the convention. RFID is exploitable. It is remotely readable.

Believe us when we say that someone, sometime, when we least expect it WILL exploit them and the results won’t be as pretty and nicely wrapped up and given back to you as they were at DEFCON.

Adam Laurie, author of the RFIDiot (RFID I/O tool) says, “It takes a few milliseconds to read and, depending on what equipment I’ve got, doing the cloning can take a minute. I could literally do it on the fly.”

RFID wallets and other things are being offered as the means to protect you. In all honesty, they aren’t going to completely protect you. Buying one as a method of shielding you may work. We hope it works.

Here’s the freakishly scary part of the entire RFID technology thing; the United States government in their infinite wisdom claims that RFID will assure your security. DEFCON and the federal agents being discovered by the RFID reader that was build there, apparently taught the government very little. The proposal now is that RFID chips be embedded in national identification cards for you to be forced to carry, or be unable to work in the United States.

http://www.christianpost.com/article/20100519/the-national-biometric-id-card-the-mark-of-the-beast/print.html

Does that frighten anyone else but us?

June 7th, the CEO of Apple officially kicked off the iPhone 4. The new stuff was looking good and brings us a battery life that is touted as being much longer, a gyroscope that is internal and a new front face five megapixel camera that permits you to do the wi-fi, internet chat.

That being said, we’d probably not have been in that CEO’s shoes for all the rice that is served in the Orient. Literally millions of people had already seen the iPhone 4 because Gizmodo had a prototype about two months past. Everyone oohed and aahed appropriately, but we doubt this was the favorite speech Mr. Jobs had ever given and we doubt the techno freaks meant all those “wow’s” that were floating around. In point of fact, the wow aspect of it was shown two months past, so what’s the point really?

There just were not that many people who hadn’t seen the new features and frankly, the frustration was apparent on his face and in his voice when the webpage loading demonstration did not go off without a hitch, but hung up rather interminably.

The design is a little cleaner, the iPhone is a bit sleeker, but the tech blogs around town aren’t saying wow, except for just a few. Apple’s Blog of course is in love which isn’t exactly a surprise is it? He believes that the resolution is as impressive as Apple said it was, while the text shows up like a crisp clean page in a book. The pixels on the iPhone 4 appear to be live stuff. It does honestly appear to be live book print, and not as though it is appearing under glass, which of course it is.

The Scoble Blog was impressed by the new features that the iPhone 4 brought around but like most, was patently unimpressed that it was only available on the AT&T. It seems that this is their biggest drawback when it comes to getting the techno-love without reservation.

DIY Computing likes the new phone immensely, but again, decries the need for the AT&T connection and so takes a pass on the iPhone 4.

ZDNET’s Sam Diaz says that while he finds the new phone somewhat impressive he’s made the choice to switch over to the Google phone. He did say that the announcements from Apple were somewhat “under” whelming to him.

The pricing on the iPhone however is somewhat impressive. While being billed as a top notch, can’t live without it new toy, you’d think they would make every effort to squeeze every last dime they could from you but shockingly, that isn’t the case. It is reasonable for the phone you’re getting.

Apple says they’ve made the phone more durable, which of course we can’t check without putting it through a few hard knocks and who’s going to deliberately trash their new phone.

The look and feel of the new iPhone four is more .. medicinal. It brings less character, less. iPhone, to the table. Very well designed, extraordinarily well built, and a whole lot less cheap looking and feeling than the 3G, which you must admit, with that plastic back, was anything but impact resistant state of the art.

The screen is nothing short of gorgeous. It’s by far the best picture of any mobile phone around. Last but certainly not least, Gizmodo, the guys who wrecked it for Apple’s unveiling, say to buy it because its probably going to replace your portable pocket digital camera and that it came close to shooting as well as those did. They say the battery does last longer and its got a faster processor and also great noise cancellation, but they do admit too that there are some reasons why you don’t want it… among them:

Google’s Android is fast approaching Apple now and there is also that new Windows phone in the offing too. Wait and see which is better.

Then too, is that annoying little AT&T thing.. seems like everyone is hung up on the AT&T connection. In fact, it is not the iPhone which seems to be hindering the iPhone, but the fact that the single most annoying cell phone network in the world, still appears to hold a monopoly on the iPhone services.

When that limitation is gone, we may see iPhone take off like a rocket.

Windstream ISP is a name that not many people know. It is certainly not as famous as Comcast or AOL used to be. In fact, you may not have ever heard the name, but you may be using the products all the same. The products of Windstream are of course communications. They bring you television, landline services, as well as internet service provisions. There services are rated among the best in the country by those who use them. While there are of course the occasional problems, Windstream has a reputation for fixing them rapidly and servicing their customers in a remarkably positive way.

The fact is that you probably do know the products that Windstream provides. To say it in a roundabout way, you may not know that you know it, but you do know it. You see, Windstream communications was at one point known as Alltel. The nameWindstream is new to you but the roots of the company is a name that has been trusted for nearly a hundred years when it comes to communications. If you are a telephone customer in one of many states, you know the name Alltel. You probably used Alltel for your landline telephone services. Windstream grew from Alltel.

They are what is known as a spinoff company, who made great inroads into their own passion, telecommunications, after Alltel beginnings. While Alltel gave them their start, Windstream took that and built on it. Offering outstanding services, proving themselves a reliable provider of landlines, internet and television, Windstream is mainstream these days.

Windstream is a down home country company that offers you outstanding communications and a personal touch too. The have not forgotten their country roots and have taken a great many of their customer service ideals from those beginnings.

From Little Rock Arkansas, Windstream services rural and city areas and consumers from all across the country. They combine a very strong financial center with excellent products and reliable customer service to those who use their services.

Windstream began to offer telephone, digital television, and broadband internet services many years ago. They were formed by spinning away from the land line telephone services of Alltel incorporated. The company grew stronger with a merger that took place between Windstream and Valor Telecommunications. They believe that their company is far stronger when it focuses on offering great entertainment products as well as strong and reliable communications products.

Windstream, although you may not know the name, has more than three million households or businesses as their customers. Their reach is broad scope, with consumers of their products in more than 20 states in the United States. You are able to use Windstream communications in areas around the country.

At the current time, Windstream offers services for more than three million lines that are scattered across twenty one states. While they do not offer services in the South western United States, plans are in place for expansion.

Competing admirably in a market that was dominated by giants nearly twice their size, Windstream has yest to become a household name although they certainly should be. If you are interested in the digital services or products that Windstream offers, you may be part of the Windstream experience if you live in the following US States.

Alabama

Arkansas

Florida

Georgia

Illinois

Indiana

Kansas

Kentucky

Louisiana

Mississippi

Missouri

Nebraska

New Mexico

New York

North Carolina

Ohio

Oklahoma

Pennsylvania

South Carolina

Tennessee

Texas.

Last year, Windstream Communications brought in more than 3 billion dollars in revenues. They compete well in a market that has giants, and they often outdo those giants when it comes to service and support of the products that they sell. When a company is bringing in that kind of revenue, there is a reason for it. The products and services are good or they would not be in business. This kind of revenue and customer service means that Windstream is a company that you can trust to give you reliable internet service for your home or your business. No matter how you slice it, personal customer service wins hands down every time. That is the kind of service that you will get form Windstream communicaitons. That is a company that you can trust. Windstream communications also offers high speed internet to over a million customers each year and has nearly nine thousand employees around the United States.

The digital television customers of Windstream number in the hundreds of thousands, and they are growing every month. With so much on the table you might imagine that Windstream isn’t really giving great customer service. Nothing could be further from the truth. From their roots in Little Rock, Windstream learned valuable lessons about personal customer service that they still adhere to today.

Your experience with Windstream will be a positive one. We can say that because Windstream has a reputation of offering the same service to both business and residential customers. While many companies offer better service to their large customers– the big payday customers, Windstream offers equally great service to every single customer they have as part of their customer base. Windstream’s ideal is that everyone deserves quality. The company tends to respond rapidly to an outage in service because they don’t care if you use one single aspect of their business, providing you the best experience possible is important. You as a customer are important to Windstream Communications. That makes a huge difference doesn’t it. When you are viewed, not just as a customer, but as a valued customer, regardless of the revenue that you bring in to the company, that company is deserving of your loyalty. Windstream brings you the best of all worlds, a company that is large enough to serve your needs, and small enough to care about the customer.

AOL, or America Online, was at one time a giant in the internet service provision industry. Nearly everything was AOL and many million users were connected to it every day in order to use the dialup services that they offered to connect to the nearly new internet.

These days we don’t hear a lot about AOL although many people use their services for instant messaging and other gaming venues. What became of AOL, why did they lose their edge when it comes to internet service provision, and who actually uses AOL these days?

A)L was called the “goliath among Internet service providers” and at one point had more than thirty million users. They ranged over multiple continents. They announced a merger with Time Warner that everyone thought would bring them even more fame and fortune, but the reality is that it did not.

AOL has fallen victim to it’s own proprietary requirements and some poor practices that Americans, as one of the most prolific users of the internet, simply will not tolerate. Rated as one of the best as well as one of the worst internet service providers in the UK, AOL has seen a decline in stock pricing as well as customer base that is nothing short of dramatic.

The former giant in the industry, who once held the hands of more than 30 million users around the globe, today services less than ten million users. Primarily their user base is made up of those who are less technical and less able to understand the choices that they have for internet service provision. In addition to the loss in consumer use, AOL stock prices have dropped from a 226 billion dollar top end, to about 20 billion now. It is barely ahead of Comcast and this reporting comes from 2007. Prices on AOL and user base has decreased still further since then, with a one year EPS growth of negative 32.70%. What brought AOL to the current pass?

To understand where it’s gone, it’s important to understand where it started. Begun as a small venture which was called CVC, AOL was founded by Bill Von Meister. It had one product, an online venue called Gameline, that fed into the Atari 2600. You could buy a modem from the company, pay a fee and then download games and play them for a dollar a game.

The hiring of a strategist and some other technical gurus and 1985 saw the launching of services that were geared toward the Qlink. A service that was specifically for Commodore computers. Gaming and chat were the primary functions of AOL or CVC at this point.

With some work and expansion, Steve Case, hired to build the company built it up as a service that would be used by those who were not familiar with or comfortable with computers and technology. It was the first ISP licensed that required their users to download and to use proprietary technology as well as a browser that they proclaimed to be the best.

Due to the internet being a new arena there were many who wanted to take part but did not have the know how to accomplish it. AOL gave them a GUI rather than DOS command lines and it took control of the newly popular internet for those who wanted to take advantage of the technology but didn’t have the knowledge base to do so.

They were able to use AOL chat room to talk with others from around the world, They were permitted to create a conference room and moderate it. They could house a virtual auditorium. 193 saw Usenet added to AOL.

AOL was dominating the industry, passing Compuserve and Prodigy, but as AOL watched, the internet was changing. A new set of users were arriving and they knew their basics. They wanted to use their own browser, to do things their own way. It was difficult in many ways to connect to AOL and to use other software once you had done so. Lacking the insight to make the change more easily accomplished AOL began to lose business.

Coupled with the broad user base that they had at this point, AOL connections were difficult to attain. The connections were continuously flooded, people were unable to connect to the service they were paying for and thousands a day cancelled accounts because they constantly got a busy signal when trying to connect to a dialup. The AOL connections began to be a joke in the online world, with the AOL purportedly standing for “Always Offline”

AOL remained a standby for many American users however who were very rural and unable to get cable or other types of internet even when it became available. In a move that was remarkably short-sighted, AOL told the customers of its dialup that as of 2006 it would be charging them about 25 dollars per month for dialup access. The broad sweeping increase was the AOL effort to force customers to go to a broadband service. The problem was that many of the AOL users were unable to do so given their geographic location. AOL effectively cut its own profits by forcing users to pay the same for dialup as they would for a cable or DSL access. Again, the loss of customers ensued as many went to other dialup accounts and AOL realizing the issue after the fact lowered the price to 9.95 a month.

Today’s AOL is a different entity. No longer a part of the Time Warner enterprise, they have offered some new perks, but many people believe it was too little, too late. AOL has proven that is in fact short sighted with regard to the needs of the user, and that it did not take into account the growth and expansion of knowledge that the users would undergo and grow with them.

For those of you who don’t know, Skype is a chat and instant messenger that permits you to simply click a button and get in touch via your computer with people the world over. Skype lets you make free phone calls all over the world using just a single mouse click. What could be easier than being able to either talk through your PC microphone or type your messages and have them instantly fly to your friends or loved ones for no cost?

Skype has been called an “imaginary bridge” to people that you know around the globe. That statement is closer to the truth than you can imagine. Many of us simply can’t afford to make international calls to our friends in England, Ireland, or Australia. The cost of those phone calls can be exorbitant if we make them from a land line and pay traditional rates for each minute that we speak. Skype doesn’t charge a minute-by-minute fee for the phone calls to friends. In fact, Skype doesn’t charge any fee in many cases for a phone call to another Skype user.

Skype and Verizon have teamed up to make one of the most powerful new duos in the world.

Using your Verizon phone you can make unlimited Skype- to- Skype calls or use the Skype instant messenger to visit with anyone around the world.

You can make your Skype calls now on your Verizon mobile phone. That means that you’re not tied to a computer when it is time to make those skype calls. In addition you can use your Verizon mobile phone without losing a single minute of your time. Your Skype calls don’t count against your total minutes used when you use your mobile Verizon phone to make the call to another Skype user, although they do deduct minutes when you call a land line or mobile phone using Skype.

Skype is mobile now which means that staying in touch with your Skype friends just got easier to accomplsh. Verizon is among the most reliable wireless phones in the world, so that means your Skype just got more reliable too. You can contact someone in the UK or even Australia using Skype from your Verizon mobile phone and not have a single minute deducted from your wireless minutes so long as you are calling another Skype user. The advantages of having Skype on your mobile phone are readily apparent. If it doesn’t use your minutes, and it doesn’t cost you long distance, it’s one of the most useful new tools that you’ve had on a cell phone in years.

Everyone loves Skype. Staying connected to people all over the world and making calls on your skype is part of the fun. Being tied down to your PC wasn’t part of the fun, but that’s changed thanks to the team-up of skype and Verizon that just took place.

Skype Mobile is a new tool that users around the world can simply put in their pocket and go. Skype mobile makes your life a lot easier. Free calls from your Verizon phone that don’t take minutes are a great offering from both Skype and Verizon.

You can download Skype Mobile from your Verizon website. Simply click the download button and install the software. If you don’t currently have a Skype user name, register for one following the leads you’re going to see on your mobile phone. The rest is easy as pie. Even if you’ve never used Skype before you’re not going to have any problem at all. Add your contacts which you can import from your PC, or if you sign in using your pre-registered name, Skype will load your online contacts for you so they are already in place. Just click the phone icon next to the user that you’d like to call and you’re ready to go.

Instant phone calls to any other Skype user in the world and no minutes deducted from your Verizon wireless plan unless you choose to call land lines or phones that do not belong to Skype users. Encourage your friends and family to install Skype mobile on their own Verizon mobile phones so that the two of you have a better and cheaper way to stay in touch all the time.

If all the rumors are true, the latest internet scuttlebutt is music to the ears of iPhone users as well as die-hard Verizon enthusiasts. There are reports from the net denizens that tell us that a Sprint iPhone 4G is just weeks off from release. They also say that some other things are in the works to impress the iPhone users.

There hasn’t been an official release date yet for the one rumor, but the second that being a Verizon iPhone. Those in a position to analyze are saying that it should be in the fall sometime later this year.

The confirmation that we’re looking for on the iPhone 4G is pretty much offered by the price cuts that we’re seeing across the country. Just a few days ago Walmart announced to the world that they were cutting the cost of a 3G iPhone in half. It will now sell for about 97 dollars as opposed to the 199 that it currently sells for. Business week magazine says that the price cuts are our signal that Apple is headed toward a new release of the iPhone and to watch for it.

To top it all off the rumors of a Verizon and iPhone team up are just rampant. For those of you who don’t know, Apple iPhones are currently only allowed to be offered by a certain carrier that simply hasn’t satisfied everyone.

The monopoly on the iPhone isn’t one that customers are supporting and with every passing rumor and each passing week the Verizon iPhone support is growing among the consumers who love the iPhone but simply don’t want to work with At&T. It looks at this point, as if its not just wishful thinking anymore.

Analysts are saying that the time for a team up between Apple and Verizon has come. They expect the Verizon release to take place about late fall, perhaps as late in the year as Christmas. Another faction says that the Verizon iPhone release won’t happen until 2011, but what everyone seems to agree on is that it will happen.

The expectation is that Apple will announce their 4G iPhone release date at WWDC, but no one seems to know with which carrier they are going to announce it.

Beginning in March of this year, it seemed that not a week went past that Verizon and Apple team-ups were whizzing past in the internet rumor mill. Things have heated up remarkably recently with items in the Wall Street Journal, who definitely gave it a touch of legitimacy.

According to WSJ, Apple was making a whole new iPhone to be launched later this summer, and they conjectured that Apple “seemed” or appeared to be working on a type that would use the CMDA tech.

How half the business world uses the Wall Street Journal to lend credence to the rumors, so as you might imagine, just seeing it there made it gospel. They speculated the “seems to be” workings of the alleged CDMA flavor of the iPhone was slated for use with a United States carrier–namely Verizon. At the same time, they also noted that it was being manufactured at a different firm than the normal Hon Hai manufacturers.

There has been a long wait and a huge desire for a CDMA variety of the iPhone, and it’s been ongoing almost since the very first release of the very first iPhone into the hands of waiting customers. Many users of the iPhone complain loudly and vehemently about poor 3G coverage, lousy service, and myriad dropped calls, and just as loudly have asked for a different carrier? Is Apple finally listening?

People had their hopes raised when Apple seemed to deliberately thumb their nose at AT&T with their introduction of the iPhone OS 3.0. Some of the main features like MMS and tethering were not supported by At&T and it seemed like a very deliberate action.

For their part, AT&T isn’t likely to let the iPhone go without a fight and it seems ridiculous to believe that they won’t do all within their considerable power to keep a tight lock on the Iphone.

There is, to the great dismay of the Verizon-iPhone users, also a rumor that the new flavor of iPhone isn’t for the United States market at all but a foreign one. Where does it end up? Time alone will tell.

While the Android smartphone has just been released, the early reviews are extremely favorable, making it extremely likely that we will see it expanded into a number of different markets in the near future. This phone is the first WiMax phone to be available in the United States, so it will definitely generate some considerable buzz over the next few months. This phone comes with a large display screen and has access to a 4G network, so it provides faster internet access than other phones that are available. This phone has been called one of the best smartphones ever produced, so there is a good chance that this phone will become one of the must have items of the summer.

One of the reasons why so many people love this phone is because of the 4G data speeds. This phone can download at up to 7.4 Mbps, making it simply one of the fastest phones out there. Even though WiMax is currently only available in 32 markets, which is what this 4G network runs on, it is conceivable that the popularity of the phone will force Sprint to expand this network into other areas of the country shortly. This is definitely the next generation of cell phone technology, so it makes sense that many people are excited about the possibilities that surround this brand new model. Once we see this network expanded, we will have a much better idea of how great this phone can truly end up being.

Another reason why this phone is generating such a buzz is that it features a 4.3-inch WVGA display, which allows users to easily see everything that is on the screen. One complaint with other smartphones is that the screens are too small, but that will never be an issue with this model. In the near future, this phone will also have access to two-way chat technology, which will allow users to have a video chat with one another on their phones. This is the type of technology that people have been dreaming about for years and since this phone runs on a faster network, it will be able to handle this streaming video with ease.

Perhaps the one disappointment that people have been experiencing with this phone is the quality of the camera, which is a common complaint with many mobile phones. The video camera is also of slightly disappointing quality, even though it does feature an impressive 720p resolution rate. While the camera and video recorder are not horrible, many users were slightly disappointed, as they were expecting just a little bit more. Perhaps much of this is because the phone has set the bar so high in other areas, that people now expect everyone about the phone to be top notch. The quality of the video camera might be a concern when using the video call feature, although it is still definitely better than any other smartphone out there in this regard.

This phone appears as though it will be the next generation of smartphones, which have been decreasing in popularity lately due to the influx of touch screen phones that have become so popular. By giving this phone a faster network to run on, it should be able to compete with these other phones and the smartphone might be able to regain its spot on top of the cell phone world. This type of technology has been a long time coming, as people inside the industry definitely believed that these types of phones would have been available long before this year.

In today’s mobile phone industry, it is very rare that a brand new type of phone receives as many positive reviews as this one, since there are usually many kinks to work out when a phone is released. This phone, however, has been almost perfected before its release, which is great news for anyone who has ordered one already. Most of the websites that have reviewed this phone were thoroughly impressed with its performance, especially as it pertains to the wireless speed that it is capable of reaching. While the 4G network still have some improving to do, this is definitely a step in the right direction and is worth looking into for any smartphone user.

In today’s world, keeping your computer free of viruses is of the utmost importance, as these viruses can be used to steal your personal information and, potentially, your identity. In addition, these viruses can do irreparable damage to your computer, making it impossible to operate the computer without extensive help. Many of these problems, however, can be prevented with a solid anti-virus program, so make sure that you know which programs will do the most for you before making a purchase.

By most accounts, the best anti-virus software out there is BitDefender, as this company has some of the most up to date security available anywhere. While this company might not be as recognizable as some of the larger antivirus companies, BitDefender goes out of its way to not only keep a computer safe, but also provide users with an easy way to do so. Another reason why this program is looked upon so favorably is that it is much cheaper than many others, which is an added bonus for all users. This program will scan absolutely everything that comes into contact with your computer, making it highly unlikely that you will ever end up with a virus while using BitDefender.

This program has won countless awards over the years, as industry insiders have recognized it as one of the best in the business for a long time now, which is yet another reason why you can trust it to do the job for you. BitDefender even provides a great deal of support for all of its customers, so if you ever run into any problems while using this software, you will receive the help that you need in no time at all. All of this means that BitDefender cannot be matched by any name in the industry and is the first antivirus program that you should look into.

Although it is much more expensive than BitDefender, Kaspersky is another great antivirus program that should be considered. This company offers complete computer protection, so you will have everything that you need to avoid malicious viruses. This company also provides instant updates whenever a new threat is discovered, so you will never have to wonder if you are protected against the next big virus to hit the internet. A great feature that is offered by Kaspersky is the iSwift scanning system, which will only scan files that have been altered since the last scan. This means that your virus scanning time will be decreased considerably, which is something that other antivirus programs have yet to master.

The security network that is offered by Kaspersky is also one of a kind, as it is constantly gathering information on new threats. This is a global network, so if a new threat has been discovered anywhere in the world, you can be certain that Kaspersky will be on top of the problem and will be developing the protection that you will need. A final great feature that Kaspersky has to offer is a URL advisor, which will let you know if you are visiting a dangerous website, which will help prevent any viruses from popping up at any time.

One of the most well known names in the antivirus industry is Norton and this is for good reason, as Norton is one of the best that the industry has to offer. The newest offering from this company is perhaps its best effort yet, as Norton Antivirus 2010 has a number of features that will definitely come in handy. The program brings entirely new ideas to internet security and has addressed many of the issues that people had about their software in the past. One common complaint in the past was that Norton used too many system resources, but this newest program has definitely lessened the amount of resources used and has even added a few new features in the process.

One thing to remember about Norton is that since it is such a large company, it has many resources available when discovering viruses. This is great news for anyone who uses the company’s software, as this massive database will be used to your advantage. Norton also now uses a reputation technology that can help find viruses that are hidden in secret locations. Many websites and companies are known for distributing viruses and Norton’s technology will be able to identify these viruses, even if they are not obvious at first. This is an entirely new idea that Norton has developed and it should go a long way in keeping peoples’ computers safe from these malicious pieces of software. Overall, Norton has improved its software greatly from last year and it once again deserves to be mentioned as one of the best in the business as a result of these improvements.

When selecting the perfect antivirus technology to meet your needs, make sure that you consider all of these points before making a final decision. All of these companies have their strengths and weaknesses, although BitDefender appears to give you the most for your company. There are also a few other companies that offer similar products and depending on what you do the most of online, one of these companies might be a viable options as well.

Last week the Frontier Communications Corporation finally got permission to proceed with its acquisition of the local wirelines operations of the Verizon Company in West Virginia. This is after the Public Service Commission of West Virginia approved, albeit with conditions, the transaction process of Frontier’s acquisition. The regulatory reviews required from all other states had also granted the approval to this procedure.

Earlier on, both companies had requested for the intervention of the federal bodies to invalidate the 1976 Hart-Scott-Rodino Anti-trust Improvements Act, which was barring them from executing the transaction. Both the Justice Department of USA and the Federal Trade Commission granted this request, allowing for early termination of the necessary waiting period. However, the companies must await the approval of some licenses by the Federal Communications Commission before the transaction can be wholly complete.

In a statement released to Verizon News Center, the president of the Verizon West Virginia, Mr. B. Keith Fulton expressed the companies’ satisfaction with the approval of the transaction by the commission. He said that the approval was evidence enough that the whole transaction was of great benefit to the public. Among the benefits portended by the Frontier Communications take over include more investments and wider broadband availability in West Virginia State. The current jobs of West Virginia residents will also be protected and more employment opportunities created.

The transaction, which was first agreed upon by both companies in May 2009, entails the acquisition of local wirelines operations in 14 states of the US belonging to Verizon Communications by the Frontier Communications Corporation. For Verizon, divesting from these lines that serve small business and residential customers in predominantly rural areas will help it to concentrate on providing fiber-based wirelines, wireless operations and provision of global internet protocol networks in densely populated localities. These are considered the fastest growing aspects of the communications business. Frontiers Communications on the other hand, will expand their services and strengthen their reputation as the leading communications provider in rural areas.

The law requires that the Public Service Commissions approves the transaction before the actual implementation and the West Virginia approval is a positive step in that direction. Frontiers Communications will pay an estimated total of 8.6 billion dollars to Verizon and its shareholders for the entire transaction. Apart from West Virginia, other states involved in the transaction include Wisconsin, Washington, South and North Carolina, Nevada, Michigan, Arizona, Illinois, Ohio, Idaho, Oregon and Indiana.

This transaction indicates that Frontier Communications will cater for more customers in 27 states with an additional 7 million access lines. Employment opportunities will increase with this expansion. To ensure that the transition runs smoothly for both clients, shareholders and long serving employees, Verizon will provide a transition team to work with Frontiers Communications. This is to avoid any mix up in client records and to ensure retention of jobs for the approximately 11,000 current employees in the affected states.

The companies are currently evaluating the order and conditions to be complied with, as provided by the Public Service Commission of West Virginia in its approval of their transaction on 13 May 2010.

With the introduction of the HTC Evo 4G by Sprint, it has created the first phone primed and ready for the fourth generation broadband networks on mobile phones. The 4g WiMax network, which is a partnered endeavor by the Sprint carrier system and Clearwire, boasts speeds up to ten times quicker than the third generation or 3g network speeds available on other wireless companies. This means that downloading speeds can eclipse previous DSL comparable rates by trumping in at 6 megabits per second (Mbps)! Although these downloading speeds will vary by region, anything close to those rates is absolutely mind-boggling. You can easily download an mp3 or short video in seconds!

The network has been tested at the downloading rates came in at 11 Mbps to 13 Mbps in optimal settings while inhibited areas came in around 2 Mbps. These rates are comparable to DSL and all the way to FiOS – clearly generating excitement as a home broadband replacement. This niche has only really been slightly tapped with Verizon’s home FiOs, but Sprint definitely sees the potential as a first in the market. Sprint spokesman, Mark Elliot, says that the Sprint 4g network is an excellent opportunity for consumers who are looking to choose a wireless provider over the standard DSL, Cable and fiber optic standards currently available. The 4g Sprint networking service is currently accessible to 32 U.S markets and is hoping to expand by 120 million people by the end of this year.

Since the Evo 4G has hit the marketplace, many people have opted to abandon their home broadband services by utilizing the available speed of their mobile. This, however, is not without added expense and other limitations that can arise with choosing this approach. About $30 extra a month is needed to create a mobile hotspot and that’s not including the $80 per month Evo service fee. Since the Evo is also a WiFi hotspot, in can connect up to 8 devices at a time without the need of an Overdrive. Thus, the money is being used to replace not just the service, but the need of a router. Luckily, these fees are highly competitive with the going rates in the market for DSL and cable broadband. AT&T, for example, has a $35 fee for a dainty 1.5 Mbps downloading rate on DSL.

However, some potential issues can arise in the transitioning from home broadband to a mobile one. If you plan to be the sole user for your mobile network, it will probably work out perfectly – providing your signal is quite strong. However, if you have a multi-member household things can get complicated. If you leave your house with your phone, the other people are pretty much out of luck, unless they too own an Evo.

Some consumers can wait until 2011 when AT&T and Verizon offer a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) service that runs a 8.55 Mbps downstream and 2.8 Mbps upstream. Nevertheless, this competition is healthy and beneficial to the consumers as it aimed to have affordable rates and a general transitory goal for all mobile users.
