Broadband internet has become a fixture in homes all over the world, as it is the fastest way to access the internet. In fact, it is now available in most schools and businesses in developed nations as well, as it allows for information to flow extremely quickly and freely. While this may appear to be a good thing for the broadband industry, there are actually some problems that are currently plaguing it. For this reason, we might see some changes in the near future, as major broadband companies attempt to take back control of the industry and create a situation where they can begin making money once again.

The recent recession has a great deal to do with the struggles for internet service providers, but it actually has not led to a decrease in the amount of time people spend on the internet. What has changed, however, is the way in which people are accessing the internet, as they are finding ways to pay internet services providers less or, in some cases, nothing at all. One way in which people are accessing the internet is through a dial-up network, which is about 80% cheaper than broadband internet. Dial-up companies like NetZero and EarthLink have actually seen growth since the recession hit, even though dial-up internet was supposed to be dead long ago.

Perhaps one reason for this is the fact that broadband companies charge over $30 per month for internet access and they increase this even further for customers who do not have a landline. Since landlines are becoming less popular as well, customers are having to pay more for their internet service than ever before. During a recession, customers will look for save money wherever they can and if it means they have to cut down on the speed of their internet, most of these individuals will surely do this until the economy recovers. This is probably something that many internet service providers did not expect, but it makes sense when you think about it.

Another thing to consider is that wireless internet signals are now everywhere and if people have the chance to steal a signal, they will take advantage of it. This might be another reason why so many people are now settling for a dial-up connection, as they can simply use this slower connection when a free wireless signal is not available. Even with people becoming more aware of protecting their internet signals than ever before, it is still possible to find an unsecured signal almost anywhere in the country, especially in highly populated urban areas.

A company like Verizon is largely built on getting people to sign up for package deals, which means that these individuals will bundle their services together. This led to Verizon actually showing growth in their broadband subscriptions in 2009, which is good news for them. Verizon offers users the ability to bundle their phone, television, and internet into one package and even though they were forced to raise the price of this service, they still had a significant increase in their number of subscriptions.

Qwest, on the other hand, has been in serious trouble for quite some time and perhaps its broadband service was only saved by a special promotion that the company offered. While this promotion was in effect, the company had some of the lowest broadband prices in the country, in an effort to attract new customers. They also offered a number of bundles to customers in order to bring in new consumers, but the results have been mixed, to say the least. Qwest also has a partnership with IBM, which has helped out the company’s IT side of things considerably.

AT&T is yet another company has packages its services together in order to get customers to stay with the company and it has had similar results to Verizon. The difference is that AT&T has been established in broadband for longer, so its growth was significantly lower. This does not necessarily mean that the company is doing well or poorly, but growth is not where they would have expected, especially since it is such a large company that offers so much.

One thing that all of these companies have in common is that it is impossible to get a good read on their broadband numbers because of the bundles that they have to offer. Customers are considerably more likely to sign up for broadband with a company if they have television or a telephone through that company, which could be a reason for the lack of data. Another thing to remember is that internet signals can easily be shared with neighbors, which can cut into the profits of many of the internet service providers.

An increasing number of internet service providers are now charging their customers per gigabyte of usage, which will cut into how much people will share an internet connection with neighbors. If someone has an unsecured wireless connection, that person will end up paying more per month because he or she will likely have more bandwidth being used than others. These internet service providers must do something in order to combat these losses because even though the numbers might not say that they are in serious trouble, they fact that they are having to switch their tactics in this industry means that something is up and we will see the full effect of this in the near future.

Google is a company that appears to be spreading its influence throughout the world at a rapid pace and one has to consider whether or not this company is taking over the world. Since the internet is such a widely used entity all over the world and Google receives more hits than any other website, it certainly makes sense that Google might be the most powerful and influential entity in the entire world. While the company is generally not considered to be malicious, you have to wonder what the future holds if this company continues to spread its sphere of influence worldwide.

Google was started in 1996 as a research project, as founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin came up with the idea while they were PhD students and Stanford University. They believed that the traditional method of ranking websites was highly flawed and, therefore, they wanted to come up with an improved method. They had little idea that things would explore the way that they have, as Google has since become a multinational corporation.

The first thing that Google began to do was evolve from a mere search engine company to an all around online presence. The company has gone through several acquisitions over the years, starting with buying out a company called Keyhole, Inc. This company had previously developed a product called Earth Viewer, which is now known as Google Earth. Google Earth is a highly controversial program that the company is involved with, as many believe that it infringes on individuals’ privacy. Through satellite images, users can see nearly any location in the world and the technology in expanding even further. Over the past couple of years, Google has begun installing cameras in designation land based locations, which allows users to view these places as well. Once again, there are those who argue that this is an invasion of privacy that the company should not get away with.

The next major acquisition for the company was YouTube, which is the largest online video site in the world. This gives Google unlimited power over the media, as YouTube is extremely popular and many people use it more than they watch television. The main problem with Google having control over YouTube is that they can decide what is posted and what it not. So far, only questionable or copyrighted content has been removed, so the fact that this company is owned by Google has yet to become a problem.

Recently, Google has begun to get involved in new ventures, such as its Gmail campaign. Gmail is a web based email option for users, which puts Google into direct competition with other web mail companies like Yahoo and MSN. In addition, Google has released a web browser called Chrome, which is entering into competition with Internet Explorer. These new battles with Microsoft should be interesting, as no company has been able to challenge the software giant to this date.

As Google continues to grow, we can only imagine what the future holds for the company. There have been rumors recently about the company releasing things like mobile phones and their own operating system, but we will have to see if any of these ideas come to fruition. If Google was to release its own operating system, it would further its battle with Microsoft, which would be an interesting situation to watch. Eventually, we could see Google overtake Microsoft and become the worldwide leader in software and operating systems, in addition to being the most visited website on the internet.

One thing to remember is that Google was originally built on the idea that a friendly company could be successful. Thus far, we have heard very little about unethical practices from within the company, although there have been complaints about the company offering lower than average starting wages. If Google truly is taking over the world, it would be refreshing to see a company that is about more than greed being that successful, as this would definitely be against the norm. It does remain to be seen, however, if that level of success would change Google, as it would definitely be a level of success that has not been seen online before.

So, what is CLEAR wireless Internet? Who are they and what could they possibly do for you?

For starters, CLEAR uses WiMAX 4G technology in order to give you super fast mobile Internet. So, with their technology, CLEAR can transform a whole city into one vast Internet hot-spot. With CLEAR, you can get on the Internet no matter where you are in a certain geographical area–it doesn’t matter if you are at home or on the road. CLEAR gives you the same or quite similar connection speed that you get at home with your cable or DSL modem. However, as broad a reach as CLEAR’s 4G technology has, it’s also highly secure. WiMAX broadcasts the signals over a licensed spectrum with OFDM technology, which in turn utilizes a licensed 2.5 Ghz frequency to ensure that you get fully secure wireless data transmission.

When you use CLEAR at home, you have a two part device that plugs into your computer and then into your wall, rather like a telephone connection for a ground line. You get a full signal throughout your home just as if you had a wireless broadband 3G modem. You can also buy “CLEAR Spot” to transform you entire house into a wireless hot-spot. If you need to use it on the road, there is a device that plugs into your smart phone or your computer and picks up the signal in any CLEAR coverage area. There is no need for any installation, no need to schedule any appointments for wiring, and no need even for you to have a ground telephone line. Everything is really quite as simple as “plug in and ‘play’”. With the 4G technology that it uses, CLEAR’s signals are as “clear” and as fast as just about any home broadband modem connection.

CLEAR is rapidly expanding, so more and more people are quickly ending up living within one of their coverage areas. However, just in case you may travel outside of the CLEAR broadcasting area, the company also offers a CLEAR 4G/3G Dual package. This means for you that you’ll get their 4G speeds while you are within a network area, and then you can get 3G connections even if you travel outside of that area. Some of their packages come with unlimited access for a flat monthly fee, while you can also buy plans that charge just for exact usage. You also receive two free CLEAR.net e-mail addresses when you join a CLEAR commitment service plan. These e-mail addresses can be set up to be compatible with your smart phone or PDA, too.

Now, in addition to these Internet services, there is also the CLEAR Voice service. This is the company’s proprietary Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology where you can have digital ground line telephone service that runs through your Internet connection. VoIP plans are usually less expensive than even today’s traditional ground line plans or Internet connection plans that include telephone service. Many businesses are now taking advantage of this technology to save huge sums of money on their business phone bills. Also, VoIP comes with superior features. The CLEAR Voice package includes Call Waiting, Call Display, Add Additional Numbers, Call Forwarding Plus, and Voicemail to e-mail (voicemails get sent as .WAV attachments to your e-mail address). And, you can still be online, browsing the Internet, while you talk on the CLEAR Voice telephone line.

To use CLEAR Voice, all you need are: CLEAR high-speed Internet service; a regular telephone (can be cordless) with a telephone cord; and a computer that runs on Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 (version 5.0 for Macintosh) or higher, or Netscape 7 or higher. And you can make or take any call (except incoming collect calls) to anywhere in the U.S., Canada, or Puerto Rico.

Make no mistake about it, the CLEAR wireless USB modem is the fastest modem available in the United States. CLEAR, after all, developed 4G. Many people have been switching to them in order to save money on their Internet bills: CLEAR plans at the time of this writing begin at a mere $25 per month (that does not include Voice). You can join an Internet video conferencing meeting while you are in a cab traveling on business. You can visit a local park and still be online, enabling you to work out doors on nice days. You can use CLEAR to create a virtual office if you want to start up your own business and save yourself huge amounts of money on overhead.

CLEAR wireless Internet might be starting the next revolution in computer and communications technology. It’s a very good idea to check into them and see if they’ve come to your area yet.

While it is impossible to see what will happen in the future, we are able to make educated guesses on what will happen in the world of ecommerce over the next year. There have been trends developing recently that point to things changing in certain aspects of ecommerce and it is important for anyone who is involved in the online world to be aware of these changes. One thing to remember is that the majority of consumers are now completely comfortable with shopping online, as much of the past apprehension has disappeared. There are some parts, however, that still need to be improved and many of these things will be addressed in the coming year.

The first thing that needs to be addressed is how interactive online shopping ends up. For example, many companies are beginning to switch over to interactive catalogues that bring the items that are being sold to life. This makes the shopping feel as though he or she is actually in the same room as the product, which will be vital if these online companies wish to serious compete with online ones. The technology has already been developed, so it will be up to ecommerce companies to include this technology on their websites. There is no promise that this will happen with the majority of online retailers, but these interactive catalogues will definitely increase in number in 2010.

Another trend that we will see more of in 2010 is data mining that is done in more morally acceptable ways. Whenever you log onto a social networking site, you probably see ads on the side that ask you to fill out a questionnaire. In some cases, you might be offered free merchandise in exchange for your time and this is how these companies get their consumer information. This is much better than data mining cookies that certain sites infect peoples’ computers with, as the user has to opt in to the program in order to share information. These new ways of developing market data will lead to new advertising in the future. We might begin to see these new campaigns emerge towards the end of 2010, as over 56% of all online retailers plan on using this form of advertising.

One thing that almost anyone can see coming is the fact that ecommerce will see more mobile purchases being made than ever before. For example, a person could be sitting in a store and see a pair of shoes that he or she wishes to purchase. That person can then look online for the same pair of shoes in the same size and compare prices. The shoes can then be purchased from the mobile device at that time, even though they will not arrive immediately. This will happen more and more as an increasing number of people purchase iPhones and other mobile devices that have the same features as computers. Over 10 million iPhones were sold in the final quarter of 2009 alone and each of these people will be able to make purchases from their mobile device. In 2010, it is very likely that we will see many retailers release Apps that will allow users to make direct purchases from their online stores.

With the amount of data that will be transferred over these mobile devices, online security will be one of the largest issues in ecommerce. The fact of the matter is that there are many people out there who wish to separate people from their money and as a result, there will be people who get ripped off. This is going to happen at some point and an innocent person will end up paying for things that he or she did not purchase. Identity theft is also something that ecommerce needs to identify, as online retailers are one of the places that these crooks hit the most. In the end, it is up to each individual to take the necessary steps to protect his or her personal information, as relying on others to do so will definitely leave holes in your protection.

As the economy improves in 2010, it is very likely that there will be a significant increase in the amount of people who are spending money. This will do nothing but good for ecommerce, as these people will still be interested in saving money and the best place to do this remains online. Lending will also increase, which means that more credit cards will be in the marketplace. Since credit cards drive ecommerce, it is vital that more people have access to these cards in 2010. Online companies that struggled in 2009 will probably see things begin to improve, as people will not be so tight with their money.

It is extremely important that anyone who is involved in ecommerce becomes an innovator and is not afraid to go against the grain. Since so many companies struggled in 2009, it is very likely that we will see these same companies try something new in the coming year. This will be great for the industry, as these companies will attempt to open up new ways of doing business online. It remains to be seen what these methods will be or whether or not they will be successful, but it is a certainty that someone will attempt something revolutionary in ecommerce.

Overall, 2010 should be a better year for ecommerce because all of the trends look to be pointing in that direction. There are now more places for people to spend money online, more methods to spend that money, and more money available, which all point towards a great year for ecommerce. While nothing is certain in ecommerce, there is reason to believe that this industry is headed towards yet another growth period as the technology that drives the industry continues to improve.
