With the demand always rising for broadband mobile communication services, AT&T has opened six new cell sites in Lockhart, Texas. The expansion aims to enhance audio and video applications for customers seeking to make better use of AT&T mobile services and devices.

Expansion Plans

This network extension continues with AT&T’s ongoing plan to deliver smartphone benefits through upgrades to existing mobile broadband connections. The expanded investment in its network also allows AT&T to offer a greater range of device, service and application choices that are fully compatible with its improved 3G network. Through more than a dozen independent manufacturers, AT&T offers a wide variety of mobile devices which are compatible with six different computer operating systems as well as five separate email applications. The Media Mall 2.0 now offers more than 90,000 content options for AT&T users and compatible applications for these devices can easily be found online.

With the expansion in Lockhart, rural communities will now gain access to wireless communication services that were once the domain of large metropolitan areas alone. Lockhart-area residents and businesses will now enjoy communication capabilities which place them on equal footing with larger cities.

Faster Data Speeds

Speed is the key to remaining competitive in the mobile services industry and the goal is to make it possible for AT&T users in every part of the country to transmit and receive large volumes of data at high speeds. The company recently announced additional plans to make further upgrades to its 5G network using NSPA 7.2 technology, designed for even faster mobile broadband connections. AT&T indicated the upgrades will start in this year’s last quarter with completion in 2011.

AT&T’s planned upgrades include additional cell sites to keep with increased mobile data traffic and the capacities which will be needed by the next generation of wireless networks.
